About us:
Green Initiative Munansi is a socially-driven enterprise based in Mubende, Uganda, dedicated to spearheading nature-based solutions for environmental conservation, fostering sustainable practices, and empowering communities.
Based on a foundation of environmental stewardship, our multifaceted approach to addressing local and global challenges fosters a harmonious relationship between communities and nature. We believe that saving our planet and changing our world go hand in hand. We aim to provide thousands of youth with job training and opportunities, empower local farmers and women, and restore degraded ecosystems.
Why Munansi?
“Munansi” means “Global Citizen or Native” in Luganda. We chose this name; because as “Global Citizens or Natives” it’s our responsibility and right to take care of Mother Earth (Local Solutions to Global Problems).
Our name reflects our commitment to achieving a harmonious coexistence between communities and nature. We believe in the power of nature-based solutions to address environmental challenges while promoting climate and disaster-risk resilience, water and food security, biodiversity conservation, and health and well-being, green jobs, poverty reduction, and social justice and inclusion.
Our Approach
Ours is a holistic approach based on three pillars: education, engagement, and empowerment to achieve collaboration, innovation, inclusion and measurable impact. Integrating nature-based solutions, community engagement, and sustainable development to create lasting positive impacts on both the environment and the communities we serve. We use participatory methods, such as arts, games, storytelling, and field visits, to raise awareness and inspire action.
We engage different stakeholders, such as government, civil society, private sector, and academia, to foster collaboration and innovation. Through platforms, such as workshops, forums, and networks, to share knowledge and best practices.
We empower communities and individuals, especially youth, women, and farmers, to take action and implement nature-based solutions in their own contexts. Through training, mentoring, and collective funding, to build capacity and support initiatives.
